RI Elite Skating Academy
RI Elite Skating Academy is a supplemental skating program for youth and elite hockey players to receive an in-depth education in the foundation of technical skating and off-ice conditioning. Our elite team of US Figure Skating and USA Hockey coaches are eagerly waiting to work with your skater!!
Our program is for all youth hockey ages 5-18 (mite-midget). Players are grouped by age/developmental ability and skills are differentiated to meet all skaters' needs from basic through elite players.
Overview of Power Skating Program:
*1 Hour Power Skating Session
*warm-up with stretching
*small group instruction
*skating skills with and without sticks and pucks
*power skating sequences & obstacle courses
The program will emphasize on the following areas:
* Balance, Coordination and Control
* Edge Quality and Flow
* Power and Endurance

* Transitions, Turns and Stopping

* Education in the technical aspect of skating

Our elite team of coaches has over 20 years of experiences teaching students from learn to skate through national and international competitors so our high standards' curriculum and evaluation system are developed to challenge all hockey players within this competitive range.

Sara Roch Brayton
Welcome! I am a very busy mom of three young children and a science teacher in North Kingstown, RI. I grew up as a competitive figure skater and coach. I trained in Moves in the Field and Ice Dancing which are two disciplines that focus on POWER, SPEED, EDGE QUALITY, and CONTROL. I achieved my Senior MIF Test and Gold Ice Dance test which are the highest levels in US Figure Skating. In addition to my education in technical skating I also competed on a Synchronized Skating team where I traveled all over the US, Canada and Europe helping my team win National and International Championships. Once I stopped competing I focused on coaching. I have experience training top athletes and national competitors in US Figure Skating both on and off the ice.
I walked away from the ice in 2010 to focus on my family and teaching career. I got my oldest son involved in hockey in 2017 as a way for me to get back on the ice and I soon began coaching for Providence Hockey Club as a Power Skating Coach in their Blue Chip Selects Camps as well as the lead skating instructor in their LTS/LTP program. I branched out and started taking on private students again and I quickly saw the need for players to receive quality instruction in technical skating. The high demand for proper education in power skating led me to develop my skating academy. Soon after I started drawing in with players from all over RI and MA. My Academy has also collaborated with the Northern RI Vikings Hockey Club. The Vikings hired me in 2023 to be the Director of their Power Skating and Hockey Skills' Program in order to provide additional instruction and opportunities for their players to become more educated in power skating.
Skating has kept me grounded my entire life. I have put my whole heart and soul into building this academy. My innovative program teaches players the foundation of technical skating so they will have the opportunity to improve their game performance!! Over the course of this past year I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with a wonderful hockey community filled with passionate coaches, hard-working players and dedicated families. I value all of the families who have already invested in my program and I am so grateful for your unconditional support!
