Testimonials

We’ve attended several of Sara’s power skating camps and small private group sessions at her elite skating academy, and they’ve all been fantastic. Sara and her team of instructors are highly skilled and consistently offer 1:1 instruction. Her clinics are well organized, with intentionally small group sizes that ensure the training remains personalized and fast-paced. I highly recommend her programs, especially if you're searching for power skating near me in the RI area. - Mike Visagio

I discovered Sara while researching the benefits of figure skating coaching for young hockey players. After just 5 sessions at her RI elite academy, I noticed significant improvement. My son is falling less, is more balanced and agile, and is even doing backward crossovers without realizing it! The rapid progress is due to how Sara and her coaches divide the kids into small groups, taking the time to explain the skills, the rationale behind them, and providing tailored corrections as they work. The best part is the smile on my son’s face while he is there, having fun and not even realizing how hard he is working. I cannot recommend her enough. - Caitlyn Anthony

I can’t say enough about Coach Sara and this elite skating academy. They have gone above and beyond to accommodate my son with special needs and make him feel welcome and included. He has shown amazing improvements in just a few weeks, and we look forward to seeing him continue to excel in future sessions. The families, kids, and overall atmosphere are incredibly welcoming. I’m so glad we found this place. - Taryn Murphy

Coach Sara and her staff are absolutely amazing. My daughter has participated in her clinics as well as private 1 on 1 lessons. The skill development provided at this elite skating academy has drastically improved my daughter’s skating and has boosted her confidence on the ice. Not only is she a great coach, but she is also a fantastic mentor to players. - Jon Swirblia

As a life-long player and current head coach of a youth (2016) team in the EHF, I cannot recommend Coach Sara enough. My son's skating has greatly improved over the last 4-5 months working with her. I’d recommend Coach Sara to any player in the area looking to enhance the most crucial part of the game—their skating—especially for those searching for a skating coach near me. - Mike Skryz

Sara Roch Brayton-Founder and Director

Sara Roch Brayton

Welcome! I am a very busy mom of three young children and a science teacher in North Kingstown, RI. I grew up as a competitive figure skater and coach, training in Moves in the Field and Ice Dancing, which focus on POWER, SPEED, EDGE QUALITY, and CONTROL. I achieved my Senior MIF Test and Gold Ice Dance test, the highest levels in US Figure Skating. Competing on a Synchronized Skating team took me all over the US, Canada, and Europe, where I helped my team win National and International Championships. Once I stopped competing, I focused on coaching and have experience training top athletes and national competitors in US Figure Skating both on and off the ice.

I stepped away from the ice in 2010 to dedicate more time to my family and teaching career. I got my oldest son involved in hockey in 2017, which allowed me to return to the ice, and I soon began coaching for the Providence Capitals Hockey Club as a Power Skating Coach in their Blue-Chip Selects Camps, as well as being the lead skating instructor in their LTS/LTP program. I was also the head skating coach during skills for the Fed Future hockey teams at PHC.

Recognizing a need for quality instruction in technical skating, I branched out and started taking on private students again. The high demand for proper education in power skating led me to develop my elite skating academy, which quickly attracted players from all over RI and MA. My Academy has collaborated with the Northern RI Vikings Hockey Club and the Burrillville Broncos Hockey Club. In 2023 and 2024, the Vikings hired me as the Director of their Power Skating and Hockey Skills Program to provide additional instruction and opportunities for their players to enhance their skills in power skating. Since 2024, I have been working with the Broncos as their lead power skating instructor, educating both players and coaches on the fundamentals of power skating.

My academy has grown to host a handful of skilled and experienced skaters that help me run small group and private lessons throughout the year in RI and MA. I have created and ELITE SKATING SYSTEMS comprehensive power skating curriculum that all coaches who provide lessons for my academy are trained in. My curriculum is grounded in the fundamentals of skating, using proper body mechanics and techniques to generate power while using less energy. This type of unique skill set creates a competitive edge over other players.

Skating has kept me grounded my entire life. I have poured my heart and soul into building this elite skating academy. My innovative program teaches players the foundation of technical skating, allowing them to improve their game performance! Over the years, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with a wonderful hockey community filled with passionate coaches, hard-working players, and dedicated families. I truly value all the families who have invested in my program, and I am incredibly grateful for your unconditional support!

Our elite team is excited to deliver quality instruction and education to your player, so if you are searching for power skating near me or a skating coach near me, look no further!
